Windows 11 to soon support RAR files

Windows 11 has introduced built-in support for RAR files, without the need for third-party applications such as WinRAR.

According to Microsoft’s announcement, it now includes native compatibility with RAR files. Additionally, Windows 11 also extends its support to other file compression formats like 7-Zip and tar.

RAR files are utilized for compressing files, often used for sharing large files or creating data backups.

However, since its initial release, Windows did not offer native support for RAR files. Consequently, users who wanted to access RAR files were required to install third-party applications like WinRAR.

Now users can now open and extract RAR files without the need for extra software installations. This convenient feature not only makes file sharing and backup processes easy but also frees valuable storage space on users’ computers.

Furthermore, Windows 11 extends its support beyond RAR files and encompasses other archive formats such as ZIP and 7-Zip.

Earlier, Microsoft started adding its recently upgraded Bing search engine to its Windows computer software, aiming to put artificial intelligence (AI) at the fingertips of hundreds of millions of people.

The Windows 11 update, Microsoft’s latest in a flurry of product revamps this month, shows how the Redmond, Washington-based software maker is marching ahead on AI notwithstanding recent scrutiny of its technology.

Samsung wants to turn your iPhone into a foldable phone

The South Korean tech giant Samsung is targeting Apple users with a unique update to its Try Galaxy app, enabling iPhone users to simulate the experience of using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold by placing two iPhones side by side. Samsung trolls Apple for ‘Crush!’ in Galaxy Tab S9 Ad

After Apple received flak for the new iPad Pro 2024 commercial, Samsung mocked the technology giant in an Ad for its Galaxy Tab S9. The Ad, shared by Samsung Mobile USA on its Instagram page, shows a woman walking over debris and paint reminiscent of Apple’s “Crush” Ad that saw an industrial press crushing things including books, musical items and paint. The woman is then seen picking up a damaged guitar and begins playing tunes assisted by notes displayed on her Galaxy Tab S9.
