Apple drops plan to boost iPhone production

Apple is dropping plans to increase production of its new iPhones this year after an anticipated surge in demand failed to materialize, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The company told suppliers to curtail efforts to increase assembly of its flagship iPhone 14 product family by as many as 6 million units in the second half of this year, Bloomberg reported.

Instead, the Cupertino, California-headquartered company will aim to produce 90 million handsets for the period, nearly the same number as a year ago and in line with Apple’s original forecast this summer, the report said.

Demand for the higher-priced iPhone 14 Pro models is stronger than for the entry-level versions and at least one Apple supplier is shifting production capacity from lower-priced iPhones to premium models, Bloomberg reported.

Apple had this week said it would start manufacturing the iPhone 14, launched earlier this month, in India, as the tech giant moves some of its production away from China.

Samsung wants to turn your iPhone into a foldable phone

The South Korean tech giant Samsung is targeting Apple users with a unique update to its Try Galaxy app, enabling iPhone users to simulate the experience of using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold by placing two iPhones side by side. The feature is available on Android phones too, but Samsung just expanded the Try Galaxy app to work on iPhones. Samsung trolls Apple for ‘Crush!’ in Galaxy Tab S9 Ad

After Apple received flak for the new iPad Pro 2024 commercial, Samsung mocked the technology giant in an Ad for its Galaxy Tab S9. The Ad, shared by Samsung Mobile USA on its Instagram page, shows a woman walking over debris and paint reminiscent of Apple’s “Crush” Ad that saw an industrial press crushing things including books, musical items and paint. The woman is then seen picking up a damaged guitar and begins playing tunes assisted by notes displayed on her Galaxy Tab S9.
